We've had a nest of Cooper's Hawks in a very tall white pine tree at the fence line in our backyard for the last two years.
It has meant fewer song birds and also fewer rodents. (A relief because rats were crawling under the hood of the
Honda van and eating the wires. It seems these wires are particularly attractive to rats!)
The babies have been flying around and are beginning to stray further and further afield. I was able to take some
photos of one of them eating prey of some kind while it was perched on the fence in our drive way.
We also have deer roaming around in our neighborhood eating roses and chomping the flowers of my day lily plants.
