Creating The Family You Want

This seminar gives you a chance to

  • review child development and temperaments,
  • look at styles of discipline,
  • and the various ways that families live, learn and play together.

Built into this seminar is time to step back and reconnect with yourself, to take time to remember who you are and what is important to you. Interactive and oriented to the group, this workshop will help define your values and what you hope for your child.

For Reading Aloud

  • Why it's important
  • How to do it
  • What to read

This workshop is a great way to learn more about why it is important to read to your child. I'll offer examples of books that children enjoy and helpful suggestions and examples of how to make reading to your child a part of your everyday life.

Creating A Learning Environment

  • Why playtime is important
  • Facilitating play
  • Ensuring safety
  • Encouraging and supporting play by providing materials and time
  • The importance and pleasure of conversation
  • The importance of bedtime

After my initial presentation about play, I orient this workshop specifically to those attending.  Audience members share their concerns, which are then addressed in a priority sequence set by the group.
